Julie and James I attended the 7 Minute Speed Dating on September 28th, 2001. I had moved back to the Quad Cities to be with family about 1 year prior, didn't have alot of girlfriends and hadn't dated here yet, so I thought I'd try this speed dating that I had heard so much about. I honestly was somewhat reluctant, only because it's not something I would normally do, especially to go alone. There was somewhat of a waiting list for my age bracket, but as fate would have it, Susan called me with two days notice stating that someone had cancelled out and she wanted me to fill in. With my heart in my throat, I said yes! Since that night, my life has changed drastically!

There was a large crowd that night, 14 men and women total. I met some really nice people. I left with a few different men's phone numbers, James being one of them, and although we seemed to have the least in common at the time, the Lord kept putting it on my heart to call him. I patiently waited 1 week, then called. He was happy to hear from me, said he remembered exactly which woman I was and described me and my clothing I had on that night to a "T". We met the next day at Border's for coffee and talked for a couple of hours. We then discovered that we had been going to the same church, we just never saw each other.

Since that day we have been together ever since and we are getting married November 29th, 2002! We are very happy together and are looking forward to the start of a "new life" together. For those of you who are thinking of trying the speed dating, I highly recommend it! Susan has a good thing going. The setting is very low-key, comfortable, non-threatening and Christian based. Everybody in the room is in the same boat "single" and from all walks from life. There is a chance of meeting Mr. or Miss Right and if not, then you can make some nice friends. Go for it!!
